Matthew Banks & Friends // Bank of America Theatre

Matthew Banks is a Dallas based jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, and bassoonist. He picked up the clarinet at 10-years-old and hasn’t put it down since. A native Texan, Matt specializes in Swing and other early varieties of jazz, often playing on instruments a hundred years old or more to evoke the sound of the era.

On a given Friday or Saturday night, Mr. Banks can be found at one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s premiere venues for jazz and world music, such as Revelers Hall, and Scat Jazz Lounge in Fort Worth. Mr. Banks plays clarinet and saxophone extensively in jazz, klezmer, and world music ensembles, bassoon in the Rockwall Philharmonic, and all three plus oboe and flute for various studio work, pick up orchestras, and concert bands in the metroplex.

One of the few jazz bass clarinetists in the country, Mr. Banks is an endorsing artist for the new Royal Global Clarinet company based in Boston, Massachusetts, and plays their excellent MAX Low C bass clarinet.
