THE WORK
OF WENDY YIWEN KOAY RICHARDSON – An exhibit of the paintings of Dallas resident Wendy Yiwen Koay will be shown in the Green Mezzanine Gallery at the Eisemann Center July 4th through July 29th, 2007. Ms. Koay began her study of Chinese painting in her native Taiwan and continued her studies in western color and live drawing at the University of Minnesota in the early 1980s. Her work has been exhibited and published extensively in the United States and Asia. A member of the Association of Oriental Arts, Ms. Koay conducts workshops locally at the Crow Collection of Asian Art and the Irving Arts Center. “I have enjoyed painting for about forty years. I feel art is a lifetime dedication – hard work, but very rewarding. It brings me lots of joy and enriches my life. My favorite subjects are clouds, fish, flowers and birds. By using brush stroke techniques with watercolor and Chinese ink on absorbent rice paper, I can achieve a chiaroscuro effect and paint freely, expressing my thoughts thoroughly,” says Wendy Yiwen Koay in her artist’s statement. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday and during all public events. The Charles W. Eisemann Center is located at 2351 Performance Drive, Richardson, Texas 75082 in the Galatyn Park Urban Center adjacent to the Galatyn Park DART rail station.
