“EISEMANN
CENTER PRESENTS” THE INCOMPARABLE VIENNA CHOIR BOYS
RICHARDSON, TX – In 1498, the Holy Roman Emperor Maxmilian I moved his imperial court from Innsbruck to Vienna, and issued a decree stating that six singing boys would be part of his court at all times. Little did he know that these six boys would grow into an organization that would surpass the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg dynasty. The Vienna Choir Boys give about 300 concerts and performances each year in front of almost half a million people. Each season they carry on the rich traditions of Vienna’s musical life as a living heritage that traces its roots to such figures as Mozart, Haydn and Schubert. The Vienna Choir Boys will perform at the Eisemann Center as part of “Eisemann Center Presents” Hill Performance Hall Spotlight Series on Thursday, November 13 at 8:00 pm. The Spotlight Series features an extraordinary collage of live musical performances in the magnificent Hill Performance Hall including Titanic – The Musical on January 30, 2004 and the enchanting musical ensemble, Melody of China on February 27, 2004. Spotlight Series subscriptions are still available through the Eisemann Center Ticket Office at 972-744-4650. The Vienna Choir Boys consists of four groups of 24 singers that tour the world, singing their repertoire that includes baroque and sacred music, German and Austrian polkas and waltzes, as well as a medley of Rogers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music. The ages of the boys range from 10-14 years. Once a member of the choir reaches the age of 15, they are required to join a choir more appropriate to their age group. With their visit to the Eisemann Center, the Vienna Choir Boys continue a 500-year tradition of delighting audiences the world over. Their angelic voices and stirring renditions of sacred and secular classics have made the Vienna Choir Boys America’s most popular touring choir. Tickets for Vienna Choir Boys range from $15 to $45.
