EISEMANN CENTER ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL,
“EISEMANN CENTER PRESENTS” 2003-2004 SEASON, AND THE CREATION
OF TWO SUBSCRIPTION SERIES WITH A “FRIENDS” PROGRAM

RICHARDSON, TX – The Eisemann Center and the City of Richardson have announced a First Anniversary Special, Cowboy Songs, a musical starring Michael Martin Murphey and Bruce Wood Dance Company; in addition to two subscription series for EISEMANN CENTER PRESENTS (ECP) in the 2003-2004 season. A membership program, Friends of the Eisemann Center is also being launched with specific benefits for ECP ticket buyers.

Helping to celebrate the Eisemann Center’s First Anniversary is Cowboy Songs, scheduled for Sunday, September 28 at 2:00 pm in the Hill Performance Hall. Cowboy Songs is a musical created, directed and choreographed by acclaimed artist, Bruce Wood. The show will feature best-selling singer Michael Martin Murphey, a seven-piece country and western band and the 12 stunning dancers of Bruce Wood Dance Company performing more than 30 musical numbers including hits by artists such as Lyle Lovett, Patsy Montana, Sons of the San Joaquin Valley, Wylie and the Wild West and others.

The Hill Performance Hall Spotlight Series features a collage of musical performances in the Eisemann Center’s largest performing space, and kicks off with the ethereal harmonies of the Vienna Choir Boys on Thursday, November 13 at 8:00 pm. This world-renowned singing group was founded in 1498 by Emperor Maximilian I and is pure enjoyment for the entire family and makes a spectacular kickoff for the holiday season.

Second in the Hill Performance Hall Spotlight Series is the Tony Award-winning Best Musical of 1997, Titanic – The Musical on Friday, January 30 at 8:00 pm. Charles Spencer of the London Daily Telegraph raved over the New York production, “Eighty five years ago the Titanic left Southampton on her maiden voyage to New York. Now at last she has arrived at her intended destination, as the star of a new musical. This is one of those rare musicals that achieve tragic dignity. You leave this huge, ambitious production feeling something approaching awe.”

The enchanting Chinese music ensemble, Melody of China will appear Friday, February 27 at 8:00 pm. This popular group formed in San Francisco in 1993, performs and promotes classical, folk, and contemporary Chinese music through the synergy between ancient Chinese tradition and the youthful, multicolored American culture. As many as seven musicians perform with traditional instruments such as the Chinese hammered dulcimer, flute, Chinese Lute, moon guitar and percussion, culminating in a captivating musical experience.

New also this season is the Theatre Comedy Series, featuring three hilarious shows exploring romantic relationships and the riotous humor of improvisational comedy all set in the intimate surroundings of the 368-seat Eisemann Center Theatre.

The comedy series begins with an off-Broadway hit brought to you by the producers of the sold-out favorite of the 2002-2003 season, Late Nite Catechism, Maybe Baby, It’s You. This production features the writers and original cast members of the show performing on Tuesday, November 4th at 8:00 pm; Thursday and Friday November 6th & 7th at 8:00 pm and Saturday, November 8th at 2:00 and 8:00 pm. Maybe Baby, It’s You examines through a series of vignettes almost every facet of male-female relationships including dating services, blind dates, school crushes, weddings, marriage and divorce.

For both the superstitious and the romantic, two fun-filled evenings are in store with the comedy improv troupe, Chicago City Limits on Friday, February 13th at 7:30 pm and 10:00 pm and Saturday, February 14th at 7:30 pm and 10:00 pm. Seen nationally on HBO, The Today Show, and at Lincoln Center, the Smithsonian and the Superbowl, Chicago City Limits performs “comedy without a net” at its improvisational best.

Third in the comedy series lineup is Second City Theatricals’ My Cousin’s Wedding on Tuesday, March 9th at 8:00 pm; Thursday and Friday, March 11th and 12th at 8:00 pm and Saturday, March 13 at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
