  CHARLES W. EISEMANN CENTER

EISEMANN CENTER TO HOST CONCERT AND PARTY ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

RICHARDSON, TEXAS, December 3, 2002 - Celebrate the start of the New Year at Richardson’s Eisemann Center by attending a concert and hearing the incredible harmonies of the big band era, followed by a party in the Center’s lobby that will feature music, dancing, refreshments, and great fun.

In celebration of the Eisemann Center’s first season, the group Five by Design has been contracted to perform their popular and highly energized concert program – “Club Swing” at 8:30 PM. This concert features 5 vocalists, supported by the 12-piece Dallas Wind Symphony Swing Orchestra, performing tunes made famous during the swing era of 1937-1955. The setting for Five by Design’s concert is the fictional Club Swing in the Hotel Crosby, “where the music’s hot, the drinks are cool and the dance floor is always open.” Performed on stage of the Hill Performance Hall, concertgoers will be treated to such memorable tunes as Cole Porter’s Begin the Beguine, Duke Ellington and Irving Mills’ It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got that Swing), Johnny Mercer’s Dream, and Louis Prima’s Sing, Sing, Sing among many other hits of the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s.

The fun doesn’t conclude at concert’s end. Stay and enjoy music, dancing, and refreshments at a fun-filled New Year’s Eve party in the lobby of the Eisemann Center featuring the music of Vicho Vicencio. It’ll be a grand time to visit with old friends, meet new friends, and to help celebrate the Eisemann Center’s first year. Party activities begin at 10:30 PM and continue up to 1:00 AM.

Five by Design, founded in the late 1980’s, stars vocalists Lorie Carpenter-Niska, Catherine Farr, Kurt Niska, Michael Swedberg, Terrence Niska, and founder Alton Accola. The group first achieved stardom with their patriotic musical retrospective celebrating the golden age of radio, “Radio Days.” Due to the popularity of “Radio Days” the company expanded their repertoire and added “Club Swing” to its roster in the spring of 2000. On average the group performs over 60 concerts annually and are on the road over 200 days a year.

Vicho Vicencio will add a note of elegance to the party following the concert. Well known and active in the Dallas Ft. Worth music scene since 1980, Vicencio’s 5-piece ensemble, including vocals, will provide a wide variety of musical styles for dancing and ushering in the new year.
