CHARLES W. EISEMANN CENTER ANNOUNCES 2002-2003 PRESENTING SEASON World Premiere Of New Dance Piece By
Paul Taylor RICHARDSON, TEXAS, August 27, 2002 – The Charles W.
Eisemann Center for Performing Arts and Corporate Presentations announced
today the first four shows the Eisemann Center will present as part of its
inaugural 2002-2003 season. Tickets
for these events will go on sale beginning Thursday, September 12. Kicking off the Eisemann Center Presents season will
be one of America’s most recognized and honored dance companies, the
Paul Taylor Dance Company, for two performances on Friday, October 18 and
Saturday, October 19 at 8:00 PM. In
celebration of the Center’s first season, the Eisemann Center has
co-commissioned a new work by Paul Taylor that will receive its world
premiere at these performances. “Mr.
Taylor only develops two new dance works each year and we are honored to
be able to participate by co-commissioning this work and to have our
audiences be the first to experience it,” stated Bruce C. MacPherson,
Managing Director for the Eisemann Center.
“We believe the stage of the Hill Performance Hall is an
exceptional space for presenting dance and look forward to having the Paul
Taylor Dance Company as our first major dance presentation.” In addition to the new work, Eisemann Center
audiences will also enjoy the Texas premiere of Taylor’s other most
recent work, “Promethean Fire,” that received its world premiere and
critical acclaim this past June when the Company performed at the American
Dance Festival’s summer season at Duke University in Durham, N.C.
Rounding out the Eisemann Center program will be “Images,” a
piece created by Paul Taylor, with music by Claude Debussy, that was first
performed in 1977. Continuing in the spirit of celebration the Eisemann
Center will present a New Year’s Eve concert and party that will feature
the big band sound of Five By Design’s “Club Swing,” on the stage of
the Hill Performance Hall at 8:30 PM on December 31.
This concert will feature tunes made famous during the swing era of
1937 – 1955, including Benny Goodman’s Bugle Call Rag and Louis
Prima’s Sing, Sing, Sing among others. Following the concert will
be an optional party in the Center’s lobby that will include
refreshments, food, dancing, and a midnight champagne toast to celebrate
the Eisemann Center’s first year! On March 8, 2003 the Eisemann Center will present
Montana Repertory Theatre’s production of The Miracle Worker by
William Gibson for one performance at 8:00 PM.
Few stories are as timeless or reveal the courage and resilience of
the human spirit as well as The Miracle Worker.
The Montana Repertory Theatre has been touring shows since 1968 and
is a professional Equity company of performers.
Suitable for the entire family the Eisemann Center is pleased to
introduce this outstanding company to the north Texas region. Closing out the Eisemann Center’s presenting season
will be the uproariously funny and critically acclaimed comedy Late
Nite Catechism on the stage of the Eisemann Center Theatre.
Performances will be held on Thursday through Saturday, June 12-14
at 8:00 PM with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 &
15 at 2:00 PM. Enjoy this
interactive show in the intimacy of the Eisemann Center Theatre as Sister
holds class in what New York Newsday reported as “Funny, sharply
satiric, always affectionate look at old-fashioned religion.
An entertaining mix of monologue, stand-up, improv and Oprah.” Tickets for Paul Taylor are priced from $20 - $75;
“Club Swing” from $27 - $65 with tickets for the post concert party
priced at $75/person; “The Miracle Worker” from $17 - $55; and for
“Late Nite Catechism” tickets are $23 and $26.

series discount and groups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount.
A student discount of 10% is also available for all shows except
“Late Nite Catechism.” Tickets
for all four events go on sale Thursday, September 12. |
